Fretfolio is currently in open BETA. All accounts have full Enthusiast-level access at no charge. Billing is not yet active.

Tiers & Billing

There are four tiers. Free ($0) — up to 10 items and 3 photos per item. Enthusiast ($8/mo) — up to 75 items, unlimited photos, gear share pages, collection share page, and CSV export. Collector ($15/mo) — up to 250 items, all Enthusiast features plus PDF export and the option to hide Fretfolio branding on share pages. Founding Member — Collector-level features permanently priced at $8/month, reserved for early subscribers.

Yes — creating an account is free and no credit card is required. The Free tier lets you add up to 10 items with 3 photos each. Paid plans unlock higher item limits, unlimited photos, share pages, exports, and more.

Founding Member is a special tier for early subscribers — Collector-level features (250 items, PDF export, branding control on share pages) permanently priced at $8/month, the same as Enthusiast. Once the founding cohort is filled, the tier is no longer available to new subscribers.

Yes. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
All major credit and debit cards via Stripe. Additional payment methods may be added over time.
We don't issue refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel, your plan remains active until the end of the period you've already paid for — you won't be charged again.

Stripe automatically retries the charge for up to 7 days. If payment still can't be collected, your account enters a 30-day grace period. At the end of that window, we'll email you a link to download a full export of your data (valid for 7 days), after which the account and all associated data are permanently deleted. You'll receive email notices before any of this happens.

Collections & Gear

Electric guitars, acoustic guitars, bass guitars, violins, banjos, mandolins, ukuleles, amplifiers, effects pedals, speaker cabinets, studio gear (audio interfaces, outboard equipment, etc.), and a general “Other” category for anything that doesn’t fit neatly.

Limits are based on your plan — Free: 10, Enthusiast: 75, Collector: 250, Founding Member: 250 (same as Collector).

The Free tier supports up to 3 photos per item. Enthusiast and higher plans include unlimited photos. You can set a hero shot and reorder photos from the item detail page.
Yes — every gear item has fields for purchase price, purchase date, and current appraised value. These fields are private (never shown on public share pages) and are included in the PDF export available on Collector and Founding Member plans.
Yes — each gear item has a maintenance log where you can record service history, setups, repairs, and notes. Maintenance records are included in the PDF export on Collector and Founding Member plans.

Sharing

Every gear item can be given a unique public share link (e.g. fretfolio.app/p/abc123). The page shows photos, specs, and details — no account required to view. Gear share pages are available on all plans, including Free.

Yes — Enthusiast and higher plans can generate a collection share page from Settings. Your collection link (e.g. fretfolio.app/c/abc123) shows all your gear in one place. No account required to view. You can revoke and regenerate the link at any time.

No — share pages are fully public and accessible to anyone with the link.
Share pages become inaccessible while your subscription is inactive. Your share tokens are never revoked — links reactivate automatically as soon as you resume a paid plan, with no need to regenerate them.

Yes — Collector and Founding Member plans can remove the “Made with Fretfolio” footer from their share pages. Toggle it in Settings → Collection Share Page.

Data & Privacy

It depends on your plan. On the Free tier, each gear item has a public page that may be indexed by search engines — your gear is publicly discoverable by default. On paid plans (Enthusiast and above), your collection is private by default. Nothing is visible to anyone else until you actively share it — either by generating a share link for an individual item or by enabling a collection share page from Settings.

Yes — two formats are available depending on your plan. CSV (Enthusiast+): a full spreadsheet of your collection with all gear fields and valuation data, downloadable from the Collection page. Photos are not included in the CSV. PDF (Collector+): a formatted gear inventory report with photos, specs, valuations, and maintenance records.

If you voluntarily cancel your subscription or your account lapses due to non-payment and Stripe cannot collect, a 30-day grace period begins before the account is permanently deleted. See the Terms of Service for the full policy.

Go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account. A short wizard walks you through exporting your data before you confirm. Your subscription is cancelled immediately with no refund, and your account is deactivated right away. Your data is retained for 30 days — contact support@fretfolio.app within that window if you change your mind. After 30 days, all data is permanently deleted with no recovery path.
