🟡 Fretfolio is currently in open BETA. All accounts have full Enthusiast-level access at no charge. Billing is not yet active.

Tiers & Billing

There are six tiers: a free Free tier (up to 10 items, no photos), Starter ($5/mo, 20 items, 3 photos per item), Enthusiast ($8/mo, 75 items + photo uploads + public share pages), Collector ($13/mo, 250 items), and Pro ($20/mo, unlimited items and photos).

Yes — creating an account is free and no credit card is required. The Free tier lets you add up to 10 items. Paid plans unlock higher item limits and premium features.

Founding Member is a special tier for the first 50 users who subscribe after the BETA period ends — Collector-level features at Starter price ($4.99/month) for life. Once all 50 spots are claimed, the tier is no longer available to new subscribers.

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period.
All major credit and debit cards via Stripe. Additional payment methods may be added over time.
We don't issue refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel, your plan remains active until the end of the period you've already paid for — you won't be charged again.

Stripe automatically retries the charge for up to 7 days. If payment still can't be collected, your account enters a 30-day grace period. At the end of that window, we'll email you a link to download a full export of your data (valid for 7 days), after which the account and all associated data are permanently deleted. You'll receive email notices before any of this happens.

Collections & Gear

Electric guitars, acoustic guitars, bass guitars, violins, banjos, mandolins, ukuleles, amplifiers, effects pedals, speaker cabinets, studio gear (audio interfaces, outboard equipment, etc.), and a general “Other” category for anything that doesn’t fit neatly.

Limits are based on your plan — Free: 10, Starter: 20, Enthusiast: 75, Collector: 250, Pro: unlimited. Founding Member accounts follow Collector limits.

Photo uploads are available on Enthusiast and higher plans. Each item can have multiple photos — you can set a hero shot and reorder them from the item detail page.
Yes — every gear item has fields for purchase price, purchase date, and current appraised value. These fields are private (never shown on public share pages) and are included in the PDF export available on Enthusiast and higher plans.

Sharing

Each gear item can be given a unique public share link (e.g. fretfolio.app/p/abc123). The page shows photos, specs, and details — no account required to view. Public share pages are available on Enthusiast and higher plans.

No — share pages are fully public and accessible to anyone with the link.
Share pages become inaccessible while your subscription is inactive. Your share tokens are never revoked — links reactivate automatically as soon as you resume a paid plan, with no need to regenerate them.
Not yet — full collection share pages are a planned feature. Currently, each item gets its own share link.

Data & Privacy

Yes. Nothing is visible to the public unless you explicitly generate a share link for a specific item.
Yes — Starter and higher plans can download a full CSV of their collection from the Collection page. The CSV includes all gear fields and valuation data. Photo exports are not currently included in the CSV download.

If you voluntarily cancel your subscription or your account lapses due to non-payment and Stripe cannot collect, a 30-day grace period begins before the account is permanently deleted. See the Terms of Service for the full policy.

Go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account. A short wizard walks you through exporting your data before you confirm. Your subscription is cancelled immediately with no refund, and your account is deactivated right away. Your data is retained for 30 days — contact support@fretfolio.app within that window if you change your mind. After 30 days, all data is permanently deleted with no recovery path.
